  • The BOR wanted to establish guidelines to review online/DDN courses
  • In 2004, the EUC evaluated processes at each institution
  • Established the "Distance Education Course Readiness Review Instrument" to assure common review process
  • This process had limitations, did not address certain areas of online pedagogy, and overall was not a thorough evaluation tool
  • In 2006, the EUC reviewed the Quality Matters Inter-institutional Quality Assurance in Online Learning (QM) process
  • In March, 2006, instructional designers, eLearning coordinators and distance education deans participated in QM-led training
  • EUC recommended adoption of the QM Rubric, outlined a QA process and sent proposal to BOR
  • In mid-2006 the SDBOR approved QA process with QM Rubric developed through the FIPSE Grant
  • As of 2008, the EUC continues to use a revised QA process/rubric based on the QM process/rubric developed through the FIPSE Grant
